Day 1 Cusco – Aguas Calientes Town
Machu Picchu Tour by Train starts in Cusco, we are going to pick you up from your hotel at 7:15am and take you to the Train Station, located at 20 minutes away from Cusco, train departure is at 8:25am, we have 3 hours train ride to Aguas Calientes town and it goes through the sacred Valley of the Incas following the right bank of the Urubamaba River with espectacular views and you get to pass by stunning Inca ruins.
After your accommodation in the Hotel, you have a free afternoon, and you can explore this amazing town on your own, like the thermo medicinal hot springs, handicraft center and Machu Picchu museum, which is 20 minutes walking from the town, it has an interesting information and photographs of Machu Picchu when it was discovered.
Day 2 Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After an early breakfast in your hotel you will board the bus up the switchback road to the ancient city of the Incas, it takes 30 minutes. Stunning place surronded by breathtaking snow-capped mountains and a beutiful Urubanba River bordering the City. You are visiting one of the new seven wonders in the world and you really need a professional tour Guide to explore properly and enjoy the beauty of this sacred place, it takes 3 hours.
Afterward you have extra time to explore the ruins on your own, and if you have booked a permit to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain it will be your next adventure. The Sun Gate is another hike, where Inca Trail hikers arrive through it to Machu Picchu; it takes 1 hour of hike and is free and available to all.
Usual train departure is in the afternoon to Ollantaytambo and then bus to Cusco.

This is a 3 Stars Hotel and is based on sharing a room – either double, matrimonial or triple. There is a single room surcharge if you are booking alone of $30 US per person. Rooms all include private bathrooms with hot showers and wifi. We can also upgrade your hotel if you prefer something a little fancier. Upgrades are always possible.
Inka Trail Explorer Includes all the transportation what is needed on this tour. We include the transfer from your hotel to the train station, train to Aguas Calientes is included go and back, bus to Machu Picchu is included go and back and finally the transfer from the train station to Cusco – hotel. Our train service is Vistadome Class it can be upgraded to the Belmond Hiram Binghan train.
Inka Trail Explorer icludes the entrance fee to Machu Picchu, entrance fee to Wayna Picchu/Machu Picchu mountain and also we include Train Tickes and Buss Tickets.
Wayna Picchu mountain stands behind Machu Picchu; the views from the top are spectaculars. It takes 45 minutes to reach the top and 45 minutes back down it is quite steep. If you are interested to experience this adventure you need to book in advance, and also we highly recommend climb in the second group which is at 10am and so much better views. Machu Picchu Mountain stands on the left side of the citadel when you get the summit the views are amazing and it takes 3 hours up and down. you can climb either of 2 mountains as long as permits remain with the government.
Inka Trail Explorer includes on the first day a dinner in Aguas Calientes town at one of the best restaurants.
Not Included in Machu Picchu Tour by Train
Inka Trail Explorer does not include lunch from the first day and second day, in Aguas Calientes town there are several restaurants, so you might want to experience on your own one of them.
Inka Trail Explorer does not include dinner on the last day, so there are amazing restaurants in the Cusco City, gladly we will recommend you one of the best.
